Happy 63th birthday Dad!
| Dad @ 38 years old |
| Dad with his camera |
Hope you treat yourself to an amazing dinner with friends today. Sorry all us children including mum can't be there to celebrate this special day with you. We will make up for this!
I still remember as a boy in standard 5 , asking mum when will you will come back from Indonesia for good to live with us permanently. I remember mum saying "By the time you complete standard 6 dad will quit his job and come back to Malaysia". Well, doesn't look like it after so many years - I can't believe that you have been working in Indonesia for nearly 30 years!
I guess what I am trying to say is that I am not sure how to thank you enough for what you have sacrificed for us. It is because of your hard work, and your leadership and vision in your family, that we are who and where we are today. Your sacrifice of being away from your family so you can provide the very best for them is something I very grateful for. Thank you..
Your children are all married now, successful and have a bright future ahead. Perhaps you might even have some grandchildren in the coming years. As a son, I look up to you in so many ways, how you handle conflicts - your calm nature, your generous spirit, you positive attitude in all circumstances, your positive outlook in life. I have to admit, there are times that when I make decisions, that I would try to put myself in your shoes and imagine what you would do...
I also know things aren't going so well with yours and mum's retirement plan. After so many years of attending court cases and working so hard for justice. Psalm 106:3 says "Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.". I believe God is an equal and righteous God and he will judge the good guys and bad/greedy guys when the time comes. Also a German philospher once said "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger". I think its through circumstances like these that we are able to be a better and stronger person.
Anyway I just want to say that I will take care of you and mum when you're older! For now my wish is for you and mum to continue living healthy and enjoy life.
I love you very much.
PS: We have a gift for you when you visit Auckland in December.
Your son,
Wei
