Our First Car

Richard and I went car shopping today! Richard has been doing all the research for the past few months... and his final two choices were Mazda 2 and Hyundai i20.

I was quite neutral about the two at first. But after seeing and testing driving both cars, I had  a preference for Hyundai .. mainly because it came with a 5year warranty, capped servicing for the next 3 years, fuel saving, relative spacious interior compared to a Mazda 2, has 6 airbags, road-side assistance up to 7 years just as long as we returned to Hyundai for servicing.

Having said that, the steering wheel was a little bit too light for my likings... but that was the only complain i have for the i20.

Richard on the other hand, preferred the Mazda 2, mainly because it was more 'powerful' (1.5 litre, i20 is a 1.4 litre), had cruise control and... (i'll let Richard continue with his list... LOL)

However, Richard didn't like the shape of the Mazda 2 cause to him it looked like a turtle! HAHA

After some consideration, Richard respected my choice of car... but he didnt seem happy too.. which is what I'm worried about now! Did I make the wrong choice? sigh....

Nonetheless, this is our first ever car together.. the Hyundai i20!
Hopefully it brings us great times together..

Bee.. let's name our first car!!

Thanks my Bee!!!

5 more days!!!!!

I wasn't completely excited when I was thinking of the days before I leave for Melbourne last week.

But now that I realise its only 5 days left, I feel thrilled!

I have managed to get my flights booked in a very weird hour (6.50am)

My new boss has given me a few days off when I move next week so I can settle down..

I managed to get a free box approved and shipped overseas to melbourne by the company (containing mostly work item)

I have got an accommodation sorted, not too far away from Ai and around 40 minutes to work each way.

I sorta know what kind of car to buy but will need to sort it out when I go over.

Anyhow, I feel that I have gotten most of the big things settled for now.

Let's hope I don't forget anything important....

=)

2 more weeks

Exactly 2 more weeks before I officially migrate to Melbourne!

Finally, everything is working well and I'm starting to feel a little excited.

Lots of changes but I feel mentally prepared.

Oh by the way, found something random of youtube that I found really "artful"..^^

Supportive Fiance

This post is dedicated to my fiance who has been really patient and really supportive of me for the past few months.

I've been really busy and stressed about my 4th year in psychology lately. With work, studies and applications all on my table.. I actually do feel a little overwhelmed and have not been in the best of mood.

Fortunately, I have a really understanding and patient fiance who has tolerated me for the past few days.. and have helped with the wedding planning and all.

Just wanna say a bit thank you for my one and only.. Fiance- Richard Tan!

Dunno what i would do without you.. thanks for you unconditional love and support. *muacks*

One more month

Just writing to give an update of everything that is going on between us and also my life so far...

I just got back from Melbourne a few days ago.
It wasn't a holiday trip but more like a work trip.
But I was really fortunate to be able to even take a chance to visit Shannon.

I have been really busy at work the past weeks.
I'm slowly taking on more and more responsibility, and even doing in more senior roles..despite only being in the workforce for only 1.5 years...so I'm proud of myself and my achievements so far.
Despite all the extra hours that I put into work and the extra studies I do at home to upskill myself, I'm perhaps starting to feel that I'm very underpaid for the amount of work I do... don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing!
Perhaps I also feel that I will somehow need a better salary because of more commitments.

Anyhow, like my title states...
ONE MORE MONTH!
Before I migrate to Melbourne.
I'm starting to feel some unhappiness with my colleagues.
My colleagues' sarcasm , even though joking , could eventually get to me.
They call me "traitor", say I'm changing, say that I'm not the person I once was just because I'm moving, say that I'm making a bad move.
Who knows, they might as well be joking but it's getting a little constant...and annoying.

But I'm looking forward to this move.
So much to do this coming month.
Looking for a car, settling down in my new room ( thanks to Pastor Alfred), transitioning to the new head office, getting insurance, applying for applications, etc etc

Worst thing is that I will also miss my family back in New Zealand.
I will miss my dad, mum, Mei Yen and Jilian.

But I know I'm still really excited.
A new phase of life and finally reuniting with Shannon =)

Can't wait!

Happy 2nd Anniversary

Today is the mark of 2 years since we started officially dating...
Thinking back now, time do really flies..
A lot of thing has changed too..
and I am just fortunate to be in a relationship with someone I enjoy being and trust...

So this post is dedicated to Shannon and the pass year.

Now that you know more of my flaws and still carry on wanting to be with me,
I am just blessed.

Looking forward to our coming year together .
I appreciate you  dear.

Physio

Today I had an appointment with my surgeon and he said all is going well, and that I can start with my physio soon.

I was dismayed to find out from the physios I rang that there will be charges for all the appointments . ACC will be covering a little bit but somehow I had the impression that it is fully funded !

You see, the reason I stayed back behind in NZ was that I had the assumption that ACC will pay for my rehabilitation program...well at least that was what I thought my surgeon said.

Another 8 weeks of waiting. ROAR!~!

I guess all I can do now is make full use of the time I have here.

Just gotta stop being impatient and take my time.

So near yet so far

Ever been in a race where you sorta know that you're near the finish line but you feel you just don't have enough energy to carry on?

That's how I feeling right now!

I've worked hard and waited for 2 years...

I've got a casual verbal offer for a job offer in Melbourne....

My surgery is over but all I'm waiting now is for my physio and wound to heal....

I've got the girls on my dreams but I can't be with her yet...

I have got my NZ passport but all we need is Shannon's visa to confirm we can be together...

I've delayed my move over and over again...

I'm starting to feel strained....and hope I can reach the end

Another 8.5 weeks just feels too LONG.....

Thank you!!

I recently received a parcel with my name on it.

It was from US and was wrapped in yellow.

Puzzled and curious, I opened it up to find a wonderful suprise that made my day!

It was a 2nd anniversary present ( since I "officially" dated Ai )

Thank you Ai for the lovely photo album of the pictures we've taken for the pass year or two.

It brought back so much memories..

The trip we went together,
the festivals,
the people we hanged out with ,
the special occasion,
the road trips,
most importantly our limited and precious time together while dating apart.

You never fail to surprise me (YET!)
and that's one of the things I love about my fiance.

PS: Calling  her "fiance", I'm just soooo not used to it yet!

The Surprise Visit & The Proposal

My sneeky little surprise trip was a success!!! Thanks to Richard's family and Ren who played along to keep Richard in the dark. I can still remember clearly that the first thing he said was: What are you doing here? Am I dreaming?  LOL.. It was hilarious! I was glad that I spent that money to give a little support after his surgery.

What was unexpected was, he actually had something up his sleeves too.. and you guessed it right. He actually planned a proposal behind my back! Again with the help of his family, this time round, he managed to keep me in the dark. He first called my parents to ask for their permission which I was really touched about. He had actually got the ring quite some time ago but was just waiting for the right time to propose.

Apparently he has been so nervous 2 days before the proposal that he had no appetite to eat and i thought he was just plain down with a flu or something- maybe even diarrhoea as he kept heading to the toilet! LOL.

Nevertheless, on the night of the dinner, he was really generous. He brought me shopping and bought a new dress for the night because I went to Auckland with casual clothes only.

So the time came and we were at the restaurant, he didnt look happy.. and was really quiet. It was only later that I understood why. After finishing our delicious and very expensive meal, Richard said he really wasnt feeling very comfortable and had to go to the toilet. Well, that was an excuse. He actually went to the car to to get the bouquet of flowers that had the ring hidden in it.

It was a very pleasant surprise! I was really excited and happy... but could not concentrate on what he was saying because I was more concerned about his knee and he got down on one knee. And that was one of the reasons i said YES. Despite just having a surgery, he was still willing to get down on one knee to propose.

What was also very memorable was that he used the same rose he has used 2 and half years ago. The story goes like this- two and half years ago, I went to Auckland for a holiday and met this really great guy. Apparently, he fell for me within 12 days and didnt want to be leave after my holiday ended. He jokingly got down on one knee and asked me to stay. Who would know 2 and half years later, that guy would use the same rose to propose to this girl he met for 12 days.

Thanks my fiance for everything! You've been the best thing that has happened in my life. =)

Surgery summary

Thanks for those that prayed for my surgery .. everything went really well and better than what i anticipated.

My surgery started late probably because the patient before me was delayed . At 9.30 am , i waited until 10.30am in the pre surgery room .that felt like the longest hour because i was probably nervous. After that , the anesthesiologist and surgeon came in to greet me . The surgeon looked stress for some reason , don't know why. They gave me an IV , drew 5 marks on my leg for the 5 holes and wheeled me into the theatre room . It was really cold there that i shook uncontrollably. There were around 7 people there waiting for me and before i could analyze everything i was given anesthetic. Fought hard not to let it beat me but i lost.

2.30 hours later i woke up in the recovery room . I was so sleepy yet found it painful . The nurses were running around giving quatities of morphin. I realised also that i had a oxygen mask on. Finally after 3 shots of morphin i finally calmed down from the pain and stopped breathing heavily. 30 minutes onwards i was introduced to a new nurse , stella . She took me to my ward . All i could feel at that time was being thirsty. Fortunately all the pain was gone. She mentioned that the other nurses gave me a lot of morphin... =(

I asked her for a cup of water and before i could let the few sips settle in me,i threw up everything. This happened was few minutes and i was sick in the stomach. I. Thought it was be the morphin, as i was pretty sure i read of someone having similiar experience on the internet.

1.00pm, i was glad to see a pair of familiar faces . Mum and dad came to visit me and brought me some books and my tablet in case i was bored. I wasnt because all i wanted to do was lie down and rest. They left after a while while i tried to sleep with other patients around me watching their private tv. Yea, it was a private hospital so everyone had their own TVs.

I was woken up every 4 hours for the pain killers but i still couldn't feel much pain because i had a nerve block which they jab into my groin prior to surgery .

I managed to sleep through the night so i was pretty pleased about it. Oh btw, the hospital food was really good . We even had menus to choose from.

I read in forums that i couldnt shower for days after surgery so i was really surprised when the nurse asked me if i wanted a shower. I said yes and she gave me a water proof dressing. While changing the dressing, i looked down on my knee and saw all the holes that were there . So much for sexy legs...now it should be more manly despite the lack of hair because the nurse shaved it prior to surgery.

Now im back home resting and i had to get up each 4 hours because thats when i could feel the pain. Its winter here too so its been pretty cold each night . (Makes me go to the toilet more often ).

Overall , i am quite pleased with the surgery.the surgeon gave me 42 days off work .good thing about it in nz we can claim these under ACC . I should be able to get 80% of my monthly salary while im still recovering. Once this is over, i can't wait to go over to Melbourne to see shannon =)

So thanks to family and friends for praying for me. Wouldn't have had a such a smooth operation without you =) love u all !

Richard's Surgery

Today is the Richard faces his nightmare... ACL sugery. I just gave him a call and heard from him and he had vomited several times due to the amount of morphine he was given. My poor bee... Sigh.. Wish I was there for him.. but i can't...

I keep imagining him in the hospital gown with his parents besides him taking care of him... I imagine how he looks like when he vomits .. LOL.. I imagine how is he going to go to the toilet..

There's gonna be some drastic changes to his lifestyle for the next few weeks.. but i'm sure he'll be ok because he is my bee! =)

A few hours before going in

So im lying on my bed , preparing for tomorrows surgery at 7.15am .. not feeling too worried and even when im about to doze off i thought i should jot whatever is going in my head down since its not often we get surgeries...fingers crossed.
At this point of time , my girl friend is having dinner with a good guy friend after a stressful week of studies and the exam today . Im really proud of her because i know that she is doing her best . I wish she was with me for this surgery yet i understand it is not possible because of her exams and expensive flights . I wish that she could nurse be back to recovery .. but im really fortunate to have my family and dad around to support me , something that i might lose after i migrate to melbourne .
My biggest fear for now is heights .even when i take aeroplanes i would feel nervous during those turbulent moments . Those are the moments when i start thinking about the possibilities of what life of others be without me if i really did die. Well,  thats whats going through my mind a day before surgery . Weird eh .. for eg ,  i would think of my company without me, how will it run differently, ( probably not so good as im an awesome employee!!) ,what my family would be like (i know ill be missed ) , or who my gf would end up marrying instead, or if I have achieved the goals that I have set for myself..but it keeps me thinking and it changes a lot of my perspectives and make me want to live life to the fullest .Maybe thats why god gives us these episodes in our lifes ..
Hard tapping on my eee pad to write this down . But all i want to say is that i love my family and shannon .
Love you all and good night.
Wish me the best tomorrow =)

Pre-Surgery & ACC Pain in butt

Just writing to inform that my surgery has been postponed....AGAIN!

The reason for my postpone is because my ACC has not been approved. ( ACC is the body that will pay for my surgery because it was an accident. It will pay for both my surgery, rehabilitation and also 80% of my income while I'm recovering at home).

I have called both parties to find a resolution for this problem. The issue was that my X-ray was never sent to ACC to assess my knee. The hospital on the other hand claim to have sent it. ACC wants me to resubmit my application which will take 6 weeks average to processed. After that I would need to wait a for a couple of months to get a spot for my surgery from the surgeon.

I had a friend who worked in ACC database centre who helped me get the missing information sent to ACC. Now all I can do is wait. But chances are looking really slim now as ACC has insisted that I ask the surgeon to re lodge an application. My trip that was meant to be in June will most likely be postponed until September or even later.

I would like to ask for your prayers for my situation...pray that God will come through for me and grant my desires to have this surgery earlier.

ACC approved!

Previously I mentioned that I had some problems getting my ACC approved because the application for surgery wasn't completed. The ACC officer stated that I was still missing documents while the hospital claimed to have done send every document that was required. As a result, I was the victim of this pass-the-ball game. Subsequently, this would affect my move to Melbourne and also affect my career possibly.

The day I found out that I was in this situation, I called Auntie Ellen, who was Nicole's mum. She helped me out by calling ACC and sending them the required documents. She was very understanding and helpful to me.
The hospital receptionist called me the next morning to say that she has called ACC and ACC is in the processs in looking into my case...According to the ACC officer, I might need to resubmit my whole application because the previous one was incomplete.

Yesterday morning, I received an email from Mum saying that I have received a letter from ACC. My application was approved ! This means that I have now have my surgery paid for my the government and also receive 80% of my income while recuperating. That's great news for me !

Just want to thank the people who has been praying for me, especially mum. Now  there is a chance that I might be able to go for surgery on the 5th of July, take 2 months off work , and hopefully well enough to start work in Melbourne during September. Nothing is concrete at the moment but at least I'm back on track again.

Possible Knee Surgery

I just came home from an MRI for my left knee. Last year in August, I injured my knee playing badminton with some friends. I landed at a bad angle on my left knee, giving out a loud crack and me crashing down. Recently I have just been able to see my doctor who has referred me to a specialist. Based on my symptoms, he believes that it is very likely a torn ligament in my knee. That's the good thing, I found the problem. Bad thing is that torn ligaments don't recover by themselves. I would have to go for a surgery called ACL reconstruction.

During the surgery, the surgeon will have to steal another ligament from another part of my leg. Then he would need to drill 2 holes through my knee bones ( 1cm in diameter) and fit that ligament through it. Finally he will have to secure it by fastening metal screws in my bones. Sounds like a really painful process.

Sad thing too, is that now my plan to migrate over to Melbourne will have to be delayed by a few months. My original plan was to go over in June, as my boss persuaded me to stay a little longer. The specialist mentioned that my recovery time will be 2 years.... jokes.. 3 months! Even after 3 months, he recommends not flying long distance as there is a risk of blood cloth occurring in my foot. Worst case scenario is that I get choked by it...(don't know how it works).

In terms of jobs, I was planning to wait till I get at least an interview for a company that I was hoping to work for, John Holland. Just a few days ago, I received an email saying that I have been rejected. Perhaps its a sign saying that I shouldn't postpone my surgery because of this job. And that's what I'm going to do, get done with my surgery ASAP.

My only hope now for getting a job when I move to Melbourne is a transfer within my company to the System/ Comm team. I haven't heard anything from the manager there but I will be seeing him soon this coming commissioning. Hopefully I will get an answer then. *fingers crossed*

Feeling  a little demotivated at work at the moment because of so many things happening at the same time. But when I remember Auntie Girly's husband who is suffering from cancer, it just make me realise that my problems are not as painful as his. For those that don't know auntie girl's, she is Shannon's landlady who is pretty decent and kind.

Anyway thats for now. Will keep you updated.

He just left...

I can't believe time passed by so quickly when he is around... Where did my whole week go???

I wish time had slowed down a little..

Not sure when is the next time I'll be seeing him, but hopefully he gets to come over next month for training... *fingers crossed*

But i guess the most important thing we have to worry about now is his surgery. I pray and hope all things will go well and that he will recover fast.

Just when I thought he will definitely be coming over in June, things changed... I guess, June just wasn't God's timing for us. oh well.... just got to keep moving forward.

One more week

7 more days before I head over to Melbourne again!

I have used up all my annual leave I have currently to visit Shannon for a week between 23-29th of April. I just think that it would be a good way to spend those leaves as this will be my 2nd last trip to Melbourne. The last trip will be when I head over end of May for my last training (assuming that my manager will not take it away because I'm leaving the company or there is too much work to finish up before I go)

My manager has been telling not to go over. He also asked if there is anything that he can do for my girl friend or us so that I can stay longer. ( in my mind, I thought....just pay me MORE and I might consider but a promise to Shannon is a promise). It might be me, but I also realised that my manager is treating me very nice and being generous with a lot of things..

I finished our commission last week. It was a crazy weekend and like what was written in Shannon's last post, I worked crazy hours...days and night shift in a single day for example (which is against the company's policy but I did it anyway). Our last big commissioning will be in early June, which is the reason I'm staying back for in the Auckland, as I want to help my team finish this project properly before leaving.

Finally, in terms of getting a transfer to Melbourne, things are looking slim at the moment as our company just made 10% of the people redundant ( around 60-70 people). Saying that though, a manager from Brisbane came over for the commissioning and I worked with him. He saw how I worked and think that I might have what it takes to work in the comm's team in Melbourne. ( I was on fire for some reason during this commissioning) . I am currently also short listed for a graduate program in a rival railway company in Melbourne. Will see how things go along but hope everything goes according to plan and well.

My Poor Bee

Felt quite sad today.. not only did Richard had to work throughout the Easter holiday, he had to work a 16 hours shift today!!!!

That is crazy! He literally worked 2 days worth of normal hour working shift in a day! Sigh...

Hopefully he gets to rest soon but this doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon because he is needed at work till Friday!

Jia you bee!!! Sorry I can't be there for you now......
Here's a kiss to give you a little boost!

22 Nov 2009

I still remembered around 2.5 years ago....when things were so different from what it is now.
I was just finishing university, Alan was in his second last year, Ben was still a guitar teacher..
It was on that day, that I saw the back of an angel...who turned out to be my girl friend, who could potentially one day be my future spouse..

On that day, I was appointed to be the camera man for Ben's student. Alan offered to help out too but told me that he couldn't make it in the morning because he had to pick up a 'friend' from Malaysia who is visiting New Zealand. (During then, I thought Alan was keeping secrets from me and she was his secret special friend! )

Anyway, while I was busy snapping pictures of little kids attempting to play "3 blind mice", I saw a shadow of someone and I turned. This person had this really long hair and was covered in black (until today she still likes to dress in black!) Then behind her I saw Alan walking but their distance were akwardly far apart. I thought in my mind, there has to be something going on !!

Long story cut short, there was nothing (thank God!). Whoever knew that someone you thought was just a stranger could possibly be someone you love so much today. That long haired girl I was refering to is my girl friend and we are in the progress of successfully completing our long distant relationship for almost 2.5 years!

Excited ? Yes!

Nervous ? Yes!

As very soon in 2-3 months time we will start a new chapter of our lifes together. Call it short distant relationship or standard courting, we are going to be able to live like normal couples and avoid courting over skype & through the phone.

I'm looking forward to it Shannon....

One of first few pictures of Shannon...

First pay rise

Got my first pay rise today. After so long, I'm now a grade 1b.

I'm meant to get a pay rise every 6 months according to my contract. But seems like it didn't work out. Boss was probably always too busy with work and all. And I never reminded him. Lesson learned......Don't be afraid when you think you deserve a raise.

I have also mentioned to my boss that I will be migrating to Australia hopefully during June. After a bit of discussion, I agreed to stay until early June so that I can help out with the completion of the last commissioning. I was hoping for a transfer, but according to my boss chances are quite slim...in fact , VERY slim. The reason is because my company is not doing very well now. They're intending to 'fire' 8% of the employee in the whole Asia Pacific.

That means that I have to start looking for jobs soon. A lot of sacrifice going over but I know it's going to be worth it. Let's just hope that I get a job soon. Feels really insecure at the moment.

Last day this trip

We're writing this post together as I prepare to leave back to Auckland tomorrow.

I had a really great time here this trip and just wish it was longer. A few arguments and all but apart from that we got on really well this trip and believe our relationship has gotten stronger. A little sad to leave but at the same time quite excited to head back to work again...Also, maybe Shannon already sick of seeing me >.<

P.s. I am forced to write this post together!!! muahahahaha.... Richard said: Cheh! HAHA
Am starting to miss him already even though he is just right next to me at the moment. There were times when I really did wish I had some alone time but after today I wish he doesn't leave... I'm gonna miss the sudden treats he buys me, the encouragement hugs and massage he give me when I'm stressed out preparing for my thesis (which reminds me that Im pretty nervous about my supervisor's reply.. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I'm gonna miss you bee...

Hopefully this will be my last temporary trip here to Melbourne to visit Shannon. Tried of flying in and out. ( not cheap for a poor graduate like myself)
I'm going to try to get a transfer to Melbourne if its possible and aim to head over here in May. fingers crossed now. Even if I don't get it I'll find another job here so I can come over. That way, this LDR thing can be put to rest and have an ending.. I love my GF!

Ran out of words to say... I just think this is year might be a challenging year for us. With both of us busy and worried about different things like getting a job and doing well in my 4 year and get into my supervisor's good books. I hope we fight less.. and laugh more. I hope he doesnt get tired of me one day and decides to leave. I hope and pray he gets a job in Melbourne, be it a transfer or an entirely new job. I hope this is worth all the effort we put in.

Pass few days have been good. and yes, I have been good and running errands for her while she has been busy preparing for her studies. We made friends with this 2 cats that has been giving me breathing problems. But I'm glad that now she has some company even when I'm not around. She has been great organising her time to spend with me despite so much work she has to do. Probably its a good thing that she's now have her own space to focus on her studies. Wish her all the best and it's now time for me to quickly go to bed so I can wake up early for my flight tomorrow morning.

We're excited of what God has in stored for us this year.

I think

I think this year will be the most challenging year we will have since we started..

Mainly because I am putting my 4th year studies as my priority.

I never expected my supervisor would request for our Thesis direction and focus to be handed in by Monday.

What i had in mind before all this was to spend some quality time with you before uni starts.. Uni has not even started and I've already been expected to be full on studying..I'm struggling to find a balance between spending time with you and studying. And we have already like fought twice over this... =(

I know you'll only be here till this Sunday morning... and I want to spend the rest of my time with you. But I just cant get my mind off my thesis before I know what I will be writing on.

I was thinking.. If things are already like this at the beginning of the year.. How are things going to be like when you come over in May or June.

I've got a full year ahead till End of October.. I dont even have a mid year break cause I am required to hand in my Lit Review then and collect participants throughout that period.

I'm sorry for not spending enough time with you.. I am trying to find more time...

4 days away

The time for me to count down has begun!!

Actually I started counting down long before but it didn't really hit me that I m 4 days away from seeing Richard until like NOW!!!!

I consider myself blessed... Blessed to have a man who is willing to fight hard for me. A man Who constantly reassures and reaafirms me of his love for me. A man who is willing to persevere in times of trial especially in a long distance one.

A dear friend of mine whom I consider as my sister has recently came out from a lng distance relationship of 1 and a half years. I was sad and disappointed that it ended. I never would has thought the guy would just leave her this way. I felt hurt for her for I know how she feels. I feel sad for her cause I know she has a long journey to recovery. Her story made me realize how blessed I am...

Jann, if you are reading this.. Know that I am praying for you and that you'll pull through with your head up high. Know that you're a beautiful woman of God who deserves a man who is willing to fight for your heart. Hugs.

2 friends leaving for Melbourne

Two of my friends are leaving for Melbourne...
Stan and Nicole....

Stan is my workmate who sits next to me...
who have spent countless overtime and crazy working shifts together..
He's the one that helped me get set up in the company...
Really nice guy and I'm sure I'm going to miss him now that he's gone.
I'll be sitting alone now...and also be the only asian in the company.

Nicole is the one of my close friends in NZ.
She hasn't found a job for a while hence going to Melbourne to try her luck.
I think I'm going to miss her when she's away.
A lot of people will miss her in Auckland as she has been an amazing person so far.
A blessing to many many many people..

I wish I could join them too.
Like I said once last time,
My heart is slowly disappearing in Auckland and somewhere else...
somewhere my friends and special one is at the moment...

Can't wait till May......

Richard's Birthday Present

A few weeks ago, I was really excited ... I was excited about how Richard would react when he saw the gift I got for him. I envisioned him wearing the gift everyday...

However, today my excited was washed away when Richard showed me what his parents lovingly gave him for his birthday.

What are the chances that a girlfriend gets her boyfriend the exact same thing as his parents did??

The same item-watch. The same brand- Seiko.

I cried after seeing that he got. I'm not mad at anyone. Just sad that now the watch will be sitting in the drawer  every alternate week....

What are the chances?!!

I came home from bible study today,
and mum came into my room with dad,
in her hand was a box wrapped up in silver paper.
I was thrilled to received it.

At the same time I was on skype with Shannon,
excited I told her I'm going to open it in front of her.
As I was slowly ripping the wrapper apart,
her tiny eyes were getting bigger..
and she yelled "O.M.G!!"

I have received a really expensive Seiko watch from my parents...
at that point I realised that Shannon was about to cry..
I asked her why and she brought a box similiar to the one I had...
Yes, you're right....
It was another SEIKO watch...
something that she has been saving up for and spending all her hard earned money on...
I'm really touched that my parents and Shannon loves me so much..
Even though I have received two Seiko watch ( they're not identical btw, thanks GOD)
I will treasure both of them as much.
When I'm in Melbourne I will rotate them so that I get to wear both of the watches.
Once again, thanks mum and dad for the watch....
you guys really shouldn't have gotten me such an expensive watch....
Also to my love,
You gave up all your bonus to buy such a beautiful watch for me.
you earned so little, yet you gave up your hard earned money for me.
you have no idea how touch I am....
you have no idea........
to me, it's the thought that counts....

I love you.

Moving on

Today at work , Stan told me that he has got confirmation from HR and boss that he can now officially be transferred to Melbourne. All these while he's been telling me that its very likely that he will ONLY go over end of the year. Guess I'll be the only graduate in Invensys Auckland now...bummer.

But I am also happy for him...

Hope that I would be able to get a job in Melbourne when I go over there...

PS: Stan's the other graduate that sits next to me at work...we get along pretty well and he's one year my senior.

I love you ?

We say that many times to each other....
The first few times we hear it is so nice...
but after a while we could be just saying it out of habit....
That's when we should pick up the bible and look at what Paul writes about love in Corinthian:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Perhaps we are struggling at this point of time because of our distance..
2 years apart isn't a thing many people can go through...
We know that we're both loyal to each other...
but I sense we're struggling...

But the end point is near...
it's like the two guys who survived the pike mine coal tragedy..
I watched on the news that one of them fainted, yet the other one was conscious and helped the other person out..
Exhausted he carried him in the darkness..
until finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...

We might be just like them...
but we can still make it out of the tunnel if we fight harder together..(not literally of course)

Just another 1 month before I see you.
and another 5 months before I can finally live near you...
and then we can change the title of this blog to something else...
a new season for us will begin.

So hang in there...
and sorry for the dropping my standards from the first year..
if you've ran out of energy...
just let me know again then I can still carry you out this tunnel.
unless of course if I've ran out of energy too...
then perhaps someone else will come and save us...

but for now I still have strength...
and I will work harder again for us.
as I understand the gravity of the situation....
but i don't think its still too late.

I love you.

End of 2011

Thank God I had tonight off..
Working 12-13 hours the pass few nights have been killing my social life..
as all I wanted to do each morning after I finish work is sleep and stay at home.
Tonight was a night off and so we had a party at our Noel's place (aka Kung fu Panda)

The food was amazing! Vanessa who is Noel's wife prepared an amazing feast for us and I was delighted.

Some of Invensys and Kiwirail guys/gals

Stan ( the other asian grad), Noel (boss) and his wife, Simon (UK tester with dodgy T shirt), and me.

After enjoying the feast at the Burton's, I headed off to the Goh's house where church mates were preparing to welcome the beginning of 2012.

Glad that I could welcome 2012 with my friends and family.

So 2012....BRING IT ON!
