Time to change a new job ?

Recently my company has been quite quiet. There are days when I come back after work and just feel that I just have not achieved much. That feeling , that sense of not achieving anything just makes me feel unsatisfied. My boss is not a bad guy, however sometimes I wonder if he even cares about his team as he is always doing his own thing, and not really guiding his team at all. He has a lot of positive traits such as doesn't stress his team, trust his team, etc. However, a feeling I get from my peers is that we all want someone to lead us, and guide us. Since I moved to Melbourne, a lot of thing was self taught and through the hard way...(and incorrect way ?)

One good thing is that the company pays reasonably well, compared to my peers in other firms. (Yes, we know how much each other earns !) And for me , that is a bonus as I have had the opportunity to do some travels overseas and get some overtime at the same time.

I am thinking of getting a new job for the past few months. In fact, I actually gotten a few phones call in the past. Some of them were offering unrelated jobs as I worked in a railway signalling company. Some offered me a career that I really wanted to pursue, however the pay was really pitiful.

My wise wife told me to pray about it and not settle for something so low even though it is something that I am interested in (and not have any experience in). It is a different ball game when you are the only income earner with your spouse and also have a mortgage to pay.

My career path that I would like to pursue is either to become a security IT penetration tester (i.e. paid hacker) or a network infastructure designer. Currently to date, I have been studying almost everyday after work.I have passed my CCNA security certification, CCNP switch certification, linux certication and currently pursuing my VCP certification. All this so that I can pursue my dream career.

Anyway , I hope doors open soon.
