Yesterday we went looking for a printer but ended up adopting a dog from RSCPA ! The first time we saw Paddy was when the cute little fox terrier mixed had a small Christmas hat on. We simply adore the little fellow.
He is settling well in the house so far. He does not bark and is probably one of the most well behaved dog. Paddy does not have a history because RSCPA found him on the streets. They estimated that he was around 3-4 years old. Due to his unknown birthday, we have decided to make 6th December his official birthday!
Because of our fencing still not done, we have decided to get a little indoor fence for this guy - We got this thinking we could recycle this for our future baby :)
The itch/rashes is on for me and especially Shannon. Hopefully all of us (including Paddy) will be able to adapt to the new changes.
Love this guy.
Our crazy yet love-filled journey from being 2623km apart to the day we part of death...

The Phase
I called the tile of this post "the phase" as my hope is that what I
am going to share will only be a short interval of a long journey
together....
As I quietly draft this post at the Victoria's state library after another depressing day at work, I ponder over the arguments that we have encountered over the past few months, including last night's escalated argument.
I love my wife, I really do. I feel happy when she is around me and when we actually do things together. I love it when she smiles and gives me support when I am going through down times.
For the past 4-5 months, work is rapidly becoming a depressing thought each morning when I wake up. I think my boss dislikes me for my direct approach, has his favorite, and does not really watch over his subordinates. I go to work each day wondering what I am going to do as work is minimal these days. Well to me perhaps it is as some of my team members keep all their work to themselves. We are not winning any project at all. Even if we do we have a system where we get work based on who they know and who their favorite is. Work does not get propagated down from our boss but instead goes directly to the engineers. From previous projects, our boss does not distribute work to us but he himself goes to site and spend projects money on his trips and travel for months & months....alone or with his favorite worker . Weird system right ? Hence being the most "junior" member in the team and not having many contacts moving from NZ, I am either left with no work or left with the scrap work that no body wants to do.... I get paid pretty decent for this kind of no value work but I am not sure how long I can carry on like this....
On days like this I wish I didn't have any responsibilities and quit and get a lower pay job as I wish. I also can't wait for Shannon to start working and I am sure she is too.
Anyway, each depressing day occasionally follows up with an argument at home with my darling wife. After staying together and through this adjusting period, I have learned so much about Shan and things that I never consciously knew about myself. How she handles conflicts is so different from me. Shan likes to keep it to herself and give me the silent treatment while I expressively hammer away until I get some my desired response or a solution to the problem as quick as possible....
The good side is that we are learning more about each other and learning how to approach conflicts a little bit better. Shan is an amazing person with an amazing heart. I feel terrible when I make her upset and try to change myself. The problem with that is I find it torturing changing myself and even when things are getting better I feel like I am not myself anymore... I feel depress and occasionally resentful towards her.
There are also other issues that we are dealing with at the moment and we appreciate your prayers as we go through this phase. A few years down the road when we look back at our first year of marriage, I would like us to laugh about this phase and be an example for other couples out there including our future children on how we dealt with this challenging phase.

Time to change a new job ?
Recently my company has been quite quiet. There are days when I come back after work and just feel that I just have not achieved much. That feeling , that sense of not achieving anything just makes me feel unsatisfied. My boss is not a bad guy, however sometimes I wonder if he even cares about his team as he is always doing his own thing, and not really guiding his team at all. He has a lot of positive traits such as doesn't stress his team, trust his team, etc. However, a feeling I get from my peers is that we all want someone to lead us, and guide us. Since I moved to Melbourne, a lot of thing was self taught and through the hard way...(and incorrect way ?)
One good thing is that the company pays reasonably well, compared to my peers in other firms. (Yes, we know how much each other earns !) And for me , that is a bonus as I have had the opportunity to do some travels overseas and get some overtime at the same time.
I am thinking of getting a new job for the past few months. In fact, I actually gotten a few phones call in the past. Some of them were offering unrelated jobs as I worked in a railway signalling company. Some offered me a career that I really wanted to pursue, however the pay was really pitiful.
My wise wife told me to pray about it and not settle for something so low even though it is something that I am interested in (and not have any experience in). It is a different ball game when you are the only income earner with your spouse and also have a mortgage to pay.
My career path that I would like to pursue is either to become a security IT penetration tester (i.e. paid hacker) or a network infastructure designer. Currently to date, I have been studying almost everyday after work.I have passed my CCNA security certification, CCNP switch certification, linux certication and currently pursuing my VCP certification. All this so that I can pursue my dream career.
Anyway , I hope doors open soon.

Something I found at 4 am in the morning.... Can't sleep !
All intimate relationships are built on a foundation of honesty, trust, and attraction, but what do happy couples do differently to keep their love thriving in the long run?
It’s important to understand that love is not just about finding the right person, it’s about working with them to create the right relationship. Marc and I have met and worked with couples at all ends of the spectrum over the years, and we’ve found that the happiest couples, or the unhappy couples who successfully turn things around, are able to create loving, lasting relationships by doing the following:
1. They make plenty of time for each other.
Neglect based on lack of attention damages relationships far more often than malicious abuse. There’s nothing more vital to the bond you share with someone than simply being there for them. Too often we underestimate the power of a thoughtful question and a listening ear that’s fully present and focused. Although it’s a simple act, it may very well be the most powerful act of caring – one which has the potential to turn a relationship around. When we pay attention to each other we breathe new life into each other. With frequent attention and affection our relationships flourish, and we as individuals grow stronger. This is the side effect of a good relationship – we help heal each other’s wounds and support each other’s strengths.
Bottom line: Stay in close touch with what’s going on in your partner’s life – communicate openly on a regular basis. Not because it’s convenient, but because they are worth the extra effort.
2. They don’t beat around the bush.
No matter how sure you are of someone’s love, it’s always nice to be reminded of it. When you truly love someone, be loving in words and deeds every single day. Don’t beat around the bush. Be straightforward. If you appreciate someone today, tell them. If you adore someone today, show them. Hearts are often confused and broken by thoughtful words left unspoken and loving deeds left undone. There might not be a tomorrow. Today is the day to express your love and admiration. (Read 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)
3. They meet in the middle and work together.
The most important trip you will ever take in life is meeting your partner half way. You will achieve far more by working with them, rather than working alone or against them. That’s what healthy relationships are all about – teamwork. It really is a full circle. The strength of a relationship depends on the strength of its two members, and the strength of each member in the long run depends on the quality of the relationship.Anyone who helps you to make your half-hearted attempts more whole-hearted through passion, love and teamwork, is a precious friend and teacher, and thus makes a great partner. Take the lead and BE this partner. Make an effort to work closely with your significant other, and conquer the world together.
4. Their actions consistently backup their claims of love.
Actions often speak much louder than words. When you love someone you have to act accordingly. They will be able to tell how you feel about them simply by the way you treat them over the long-term.You can say sorry a thousand times, or say “I love you” as much as you want, but if you’re not going to prove that the things you say are true, they aren’t. If you can’t show it, your words are not sincere.
And remember, it’s not so much about how much you do for your loved ones as it is about the love you put into what you do for them. Learn what matters most to them and make a habit of it.
5. They respect each other’s humanness.
All humans are imperfect. At times, the confident lose confidence, the patient misplace their patience, the generous act selfish, and the knowledgeable second guess what they know. And guess what? You’re human and so is your partner. In fact, we all are. We make mistakes, we lose our tempers, and we get caught off guard. We stumble, we slip, and we spin out of control sometimes.
But that’s the worst of it; we all have our moments. Most of the time we’re remarkable. So stand beside the people you love through their trying times of imperfection, and offer yourself the same courtesy; if you aren’t willing to, you don’t deserve to be around for the perfect moments either. (Read The Mastery of Love
6. They focus on what they like about each other.
What you focus on grows stronger in your relationships. When you focus on a person’s wonderful qualities, you have a wonderful relationship with them. When you focus on a person’s not so wonderful qualities, you have a not so wonderful relationship with them. When you focus on benefits of a situation, you get to take advantage of them. When you focus on the drawbacks, you gain nothing but a frown. The bottom line is that you see only what you want to see, and what you see determines the health of your relationships. Your attitude is a little thing that makes a massive difference. Don’t be the stubborn one who makes it a point to not see the good in your partner.
7. There is far more between them than physical attraction.
Infatuating yourself with someone simply for what they look like on the outside is like choosing your favorite food based on color instead of taste. It makes no sense. It’s innate, invisible, unquantifiable characteristics that create lasting attraction. There must be common ground in your interests and outlooks on life.Just as some people enjoy the smell of mint, while others prefer the scent of cinnamon, there is an undeniable, magnetic draw that attracts you to the qualities of certain people, places, and things. Sometimes it’s even the scars your soul shares with them that reels you in and creates the very hinges that hold you together in the long run.
8. They resolve conflicts through love, not retaliation.
If you’re disappointed with yourself or frustrated with your partner, the answer is not to take it out on the world around you. Retribution, whether it’s focused on yourself or others, brings zero value into your life. The way beyond the pain from the past is not with vengeance, mockery, bullying or retaliation, but with present love.Forgive the past, forgive yourself, forgive your partner, and love the present moment for what it’s worth. There are plenty of beautiful things to love right now; you just have to want to see them. Loving is never easy, especially when times are tough, yet it is easily the most powerful and positively enduring action possible.
9. They open up to each other, especially in trying times.
Let your partner in when you’re in a dark place. Open up to them completely. Don’t expect them to solve your problems; just allow them to face your problems with you. Give them permission to stand beside you. They won’t necessarily be able to pull you out of the dark place you’re in, but the light that spills in when they enter will at least show you which way the door is.Above all, the important thing to remember is that you are not alone. No matter how bizarre or embarrassed or pathetic you feel about your own situation, your partner is in your life and has dealt with similar emotions and wants to help you. When you hear yourself say, “I am alone,” it’s just your insecurities trying to sell you a lie. (Read Daring Greatly
10. They are committed to growing together.
It’s not about finding someone to lose yourself in, it’s about meeting someone to find yourself in. When you connect with someone special, especially a lifelong partner, this person helps you find the best in yourself. In this way, neither of you actually meet the best in each other; you both grow into your best selves by spending time together and nurturing each other’s growth. When you honestly think about what you and your partner add to each other’s lives, you will often find that instead of giving or taking things from each other (advice, answers, material gifts, etc.), you two have chosen rather to share in each other’s joy and pain, and experience life together through good times and bad. No matter what, you two are there for one another, growing and learning as one.
Afterthoughts
The best relationships are not just about the good times you share, they’re also about the obstacles you go through together, and the fact that you still say “I love you” in the end. And loving someone isn’t just about saying it every day, it’s showing it every day in every way. From : http://www.marcandangel.com/2013/09/12/10-things-happy-couples-do-differently/

Anger Management Bible Versus
Here are some verses to help us who have anger management issues :)
-
Ephesians 4:26-31
"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. -
James 1:19-20
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. -
Proverbs 29:11
A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. -
James 1:20
for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. -
Proverbs 19:11
A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. -
Ecclesiastes 7:9
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. -
Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. -
Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. -
Colossians 3:8
But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. -
James 4:1-2
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. -
Proverbs 16:32
Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. -
Proverbs 22:24
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, -
Matthew 5:22
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca, ' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell. -
Psalm 37:8-9
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. -
Psalm 7:11
God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. -
2 Kings 11:9-10
The commanders of units of a hundred did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men--those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty--and came to Jehoiada the priest. Then he gave the commanders the spears and shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of the LORD. -
2 Kings 17:18
So the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah was left, -
Proverbs 14:29
A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

Forgiveness
Around 3 years ago, I suffered chronic insomnia. There were nights that I would just lie in my bed eyes wide open. I would subscribe natural remedies like melatonin or medicines like sleeping pills. None of them worked and I struggled to have good night sleeps at all. I had the thought if I would die due to the lack of sleep and cried out to God to help me go through this. I had friends pray for me, pastor praying for me. I would do all the things to get myself ready for bed each night such as taking a warm shower, read a book, drink a warm drink, pray and trusting God would help me go through another night of sleepness night. I tried sleeping in different places in the house to see if it made a difference, I did exercises in the morning hoping that I would get tired at night.
Sadly, none of this worked and weeks turned into months. I eventually gave up crying out to God for help... believing that I was abandoned and perhaps there was no such thing as a God. Looking back wow, I was disappointed and angry with God...My walk with God started to weaken.
Yesterday morning when I went to church with Shannon (it was the first time that we were actually early to church!) the speaker spoke about forgiveness. He preached the usual, that we needed to forgive others as how God has forgiven us. At that time I was thinking within me, "but God you have offended me too!" Just at that moment, the preacher said that there are people who are also angry with God , for eg some people who has prayed for others who were dying to recover but they still died. These people have started getting angry with God . These group of guys need to start forgiving God.
What a bizarre thought ! To forgive the One who gave us life! Uncontrollably one or two tear drops ran down my face. I never understood why God forsake me at that time , maybe he didn't but I sure felt that he did. I felt betrayed at that time. Sitting at the back of church with my wife, I felt that God was telling me something, that I needed to break through the betrayal/unforgiveness barrier.Prior to having these chronic insomnia, I remember really being on fire for God. I would spend time almost every day with Him praying and reading his Word. I started wondering why God put that trial in front of me during such a season...
Maybe He wanted to play hard to get. Maybe He wanted even more of me. Maybe He wanted to prepare me for something even greater in life.. Maybe He wanted test my faith... Whatever it is, I feel that it has been too long that this incident has chained me. I am determined to forgive God and restore my relationship with Him again...I know He has been waiting for me .

My Birthday Present request
I saw something we might like ... something that I would like to use as storage for our every growing data files. Something used to store our child's videos, our wedding pictures and videos, our study materials and our other important data file. Something like a 1RU Synology Network Attached Storage!
It was a bit pricey but hey , I thought I should try to justify the needs for it to Shannon, especially since my birthday is coming. "hint hint"
After 10-15 minutes of explanation, she turned away to her computer......*grumble grumble ROAR!!!*
Saddest thing of all, she then looked me in the eye and said " I didn't understood a thing you just said..I think all I understood was the word "dropbox". Well, you know........... that was why I married you...."
Awww..........
Errr... wait.....WHAT ?!

THE Project
Between this post and the previous post, a lot has happened. We were
married and had a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception in Melbourne
and Malaysia.. Everything was good and seemed somewhat perfect. We moved
in a new place in Kensington and have a good flat mates with 2 more to
join soon. We might be getting a puppy - even though I'm seriously
allergic to them as it has been Shannon's dream to have one. (Shannon
has been brainwashing me by squealing each time we past by a dog or cute
doggie pictures on the internet. For a weird reason she has no interest
in babies.....yet )
2-3 months down the road, I'm writing out this post as I am understanding that we are experiencing a bit of rubbing in our marriage. I've always heard that it takes a lot of work to make a marriage work - Well, I did know that but I didn't know that it took THAT much work. Character wise I can be quite hot tempered at times (according to my parents and also that 2 dimples on the back of my head) . I am a puzzle solver , expressive, and like to the word "instant". I like to sleep early and wake up early. I also take breakfast n lunch as the most important meal of the day. I am a light sleeper and easily get woken up.
Shannon on the other hand is also very logically minded but carefully process her thoughts in her mind (i.e. she takes ages to say something when we are trying to resolve an issue). She is not at all expressive in her thoughts vocally. She likes her own space and demands it when I get into too much of hers. She sleeps very late and wakes up VERY late. She likes an orderly room and ways how food is arranged in the pantry.
What I am listing is just the difference between us. Sure we have a few common grounds (such that I learn we are actually both quite perfectionist in our career and education) but there has been conflict caused by our differences. And when this occur one thing I love to do is dive into the situation and investigate to see what I can do to help us solve this issue. I guess from experience I'm learning to understand that this is a big mistake, especially when the issue is heated up. As from how I described my character - (which I am working on), things can even more heated up when the cause was a minor one.
I acknowledge that we do have some struggles and issues we need to work on both ends. But 2 months into marriage and it's already this much ? Man, now I'm starting to worry. Regardless, one thing that I always get reminded off when I blow up and "cave" away is a frequently quote verse from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I hope we get through this.....
