I just came home from an MRI for my left knee. Last year in August, I injured my knee playing badminton with some friends. I landed at a bad angle on my left knee, giving out a loud crack and me crashing down. Recently I have just been able to see my doctor who has referred me to a specialist. Based on my symptoms, he believes that it is very likely a torn ligament in my knee. That's the good thing, I found the problem. Bad thing is that torn ligaments don't recover by themselves. I would have to go for a surgery called ACL reconstruction.
During the surgery, the surgeon will have to steal another ligament from another part of my leg. Then he would need to drill 2 holes through my knee bones ( 1cm in diameter) and fit that ligament through it. Finally he will have to secure it by fastening metal screws in my bones. Sounds like a really painful process.
Sad thing too, is that now my plan to migrate over to Melbourne will have to be delayed by a few months. My original plan was to go over in June, as my boss persuaded me to stay a little longer. The specialist mentioned that my recovery time will be 2 years.... jokes.. 3 months! Even after 3 months, he recommends not flying long distance as there is a risk of blood cloth occurring in my foot. Worst case scenario is that I get choked by it...(don't know how it works).
In terms of jobs, I was planning to wait till I get at least an interview for a company that I was hoping to work for, John Holland. Just a few days ago, I received an email saying that I have been rejected. Perhaps its a sign saying that I shouldn't postpone my surgery because of this job. And that's what I'm going to do, get done with my surgery ASAP.
My only hope now for getting a job when I move to Melbourne is a transfer within my company to the System/ Comm team. I haven't heard anything from the manager there but I will be seeing him soon this coming commissioning. Hopefully I will get an answer then. *fingers crossed*
Feeling a little demotivated at work at the moment because of so many things happening at the same time. But when I remember Auntie Girly's husband who is suffering from cancer, it just make me realise that my problems are not as painful as his. For those that don't know auntie girl's, she is Shannon's landlady who is pretty decent and kind.
Anyway thats for now. Will keep you updated.
