Pre-Surgery & ACC Pain in butt

Just writing to inform that my surgery has been postponed....AGAIN!

The reason for my postpone is because my ACC has not been approved. ( ACC is the body that will pay for my surgery because it was an accident. It will pay for both my surgery, rehabilitation and also 80% of my income while I'm recovering at home).

I have called both parties to find a resolution for this problem. The issue was that my X-ray was never sent to ACC to assess my knee. The hospital on the other hand claim to have sent it. ACC wants me to resubmit my application which will take 6 weeks average to processed. After that I would need to wait a for a couple of months to get a spot for my surgery from the surgeon.

I had a friend who worked in ACC database centre who helped me get the missing information sent to ACC. Now all I can do is wait. But chances are looking really slim now as ACC has insisted that I ask the surgeon to re lodge an application. My trip that was meant to be in June will most likely be postponed until September or even later.

I would like to ask for your prayers for my situation...pray that God will come through for me and grant my desires to have this surgery earlier.

ACC approved!

Previously I mentioned that I had some problems getting my ACC approved because the application for surgery wasn't completed. The ACC officer stated that I was still missing documents while the hospital claimed to have done send every document that was required. As a result, I was the victim of this pass-the-ball game. Subsequently, this would affect my move to Melbourne and also affect my career possibly.

The day I found out that I was in this situation, I called Auntie Ellen, who was Nicole's mum. She helped me out by calling ACC and sending them the required documents. She was very understanding and helpful to me.
The hospital receptionist called me the next morning to say that she has called ACC and ACC is in the processs in looking into my case...According to the ACC officer, I might need to resubmit my whole application because the previous one was incomplete.

Yesterday morning, I received an email from Mum saying that I have received a letter from ACC. My application was approved ! This means that I have now have my surgery paid for my the government and also receive 80% of my income while recuperating. That's great news for me !

Just want to thank the people who has been praying for me, especially mum. Now  there is a chance that I might be able to go for surgery on the 5th of July, take 2 months off work , and hopefully well enough to start work in Melbourne during September. Nothing is concrete at the moment but at least I'm back on track again.

Possible Knee Surgery

I just came home from an MRI for my left knee. Last year in August, I injured my knee playing badminton with some friends. I landed at a bad angle on my left knee, giving out a loud crack and me crashing down. Recently I have just been able to see my doctor who has referred me to a specialist. Based on my symptoms, he believes that it is very likely a torn ligament in my knee. That's the good thing, I found the problem. Bad thing is that torn ligaments don't recover by themselves. I would have to go for a surgery called ACL reconstruction.

During the surgery, the surgeon will have to steal another ligament from another part of my leg. Then he would need to drill 2 holes through my knee bones ( 1cm in diameter) and fit that ligament through it. Finally he will have to secure it by fastening metal screws in my bones. Sounds like a really painful process.

Sad thing too, is that now my plan to migrate over to Melbourne will have to be delayed by a few months. My original plan was to go over in June, as my boss persuaded me to stay a little longer. The specialist mentioned that my recovery time will be 2 years.... jokes.. 3 months! Even after 3 months, he recommends not flying long distance as there is a risk of blood cloth occurring in my foot. Worst case scenario is that I get choked by it...(don't know how it works).

In terms of jobs, I was planning to wait till I get at least an interview for a company that I was hoping to work for, John Holland. Just a few days ago, I received an email saying that I have been rejected. Perhaps its a sign saying that I shouldn't postpone my surgery because of this job. And that's what I'm going to do, get done with my surgery ASAP.

My only hope now for getting a job when I move to Melbourne is a transfer within my company to the System/ Comm team. I haven't heard anything from the manager there but I will be seeing him soon this coming commissioning. Hopefully I will get an answer then. *fingers crossed*

Feeling  a little demotivated at work at the moment because of so many things happening at the same time. But when I remember Auntie Girly's husband who is suffering from cancer, it just make me realise that my problems are not as painful as his. For those that don't know auntie girl's, she is Shannon's landlady who is pretty decent and kind.

Anyway thats for now. Will keep you updated.
