He is sick... Down with a really bad sore throat, mild flu, cough and headache...
Lord, I pray for Your healing hand to be upon Him and that Your precious blood would wash over Richard. Heal his bad sore throat and hat no further damage will be done to his vocal chords. Clear all virus or bacteria in his body. Father, may he experience speedy recovery from his sickness and that he'll be able to enjoy himself for the rest of his trip. Protect him and his friends from all kinds of harm and danger. Be with them through out the trip.
In Jesus' most precious name i pray.. Amen.
Our crazy yet love-filled journey from being 2623km apart to the day we part of death...

Day 4 (Thursday)
Richard wrote this himself:
Today was full on! woke up at 8am and had another one of those lovely breakfast prepared by Johnny's mum. For breakfast we had 'Zhang', egg and ham.
We took the metro to the pearl TV station tower. The nearest station was the Yi shin station located 5 minute walk away from his house. The cost was RMB 4 each while taking a bus would cost us RMB 2 instead. Our stop was the LuJiaZui station.
The cost of the entrance was RMB 120 each. View was breath taking. We also walked on the thick transparent glass floor which was freaky. There was a cultural museum a few floors below which showed how shanghai looked like during 1920 under the British. Something I would recommend others to go.
Next we went to the Shanghai underwater world located just next to the oriental pearl Radio and TV tower. Entrance fee was around RMB 100. Saw many poisonous deep sea creatures that we can hardly find.
Took the 958 bus home. Unfortunately the traffic was heavy and we had to change buses since the bus kept stalling. The bus experience was scary especially since people don't seem to know how to drive properly in Shanghai. and I thought Malaysian driving was bad. Shanghai driving is probably 10 times worst ! hahahah...
Shannon's part:
I have less than a month before heading back to Melbourne... sigh... can some one send me more books to read??? LOL.
I do miss Richard but I guess I'm doing just fine... =)

Richard's Update (Wednesday)
Today, Richard went traveling around the city of Shanghai by himself. He had difficulty buying stuff because of his 'fantastic' mandarin. LOL
He said it was pretty fun roaming around the city. He had xiao long pao AGAIN and he aims to eat as much as possible until he got sick of it.. HAHA. i think he meant it. He manage to put on 3 kgs after only 3 days in Shanghai!!! He also had pork rib "bak zhang", peanut milk tea (cause that was the only one he knew how to read!!) and some other random food.
He saw an old man with a little boy in his arms begging on the road. And because Richard was so free that he decided to stand at the corner to observe if people did give the beggar money. After 10 mins, only 1 guy gave one single coin (could have been 50c or 1 yuan). He felt sorry for the little boy and so gave him 10 yuan (=NZD2). The boys face lighted up and his eyes were opened really big.
His friend Johnny told him that there are actually more beggars than what is seen in Shanghai. However, the government takes them away and relocates them to some other place that (i'm guessing) the tourist would not see.
Today was more of a bumming around day where he spent time observing people walking by. According to Richard, most people don't even bother looking around. They seem to look pass others in front of them as if they're transparent, even if there was some overweight guy in front of them.
Apparently Richard was suppose to wait for his other friends to reach Shanghai before he could really start touring. However, he is already getting familiar with the streets in Shanghai. Thanks to his scouting skills according him. (He sounded really PROUD of himself!...LOL.. Which i think he had the right to also. It has only been 3 days and he is already familiar with the roads!)

Richard's Update (Tuesday)
Today, Richard visited a museum, tasted the taro pie at MacD's and admired the beauty of the Shanghai ladies...LOL.
He also mentioned that tv programs there are very entertaining cause they are really lame.
That's all he said I think... Oh, he thinks he might have appendicitis. Dunno how true is it but let's just remember him in prayer. =)

Tiring Day (Monday)
Drove up to kl to find that I really did misplace something i treasure a lot wasn't a really good way to start my day.
Anyway, I met up with some of my college friends in HELP who all kinda lost weight because of stress. I also visited a cell member who got admitted into hospital for dengue. There were 9 of us who went to give him moral support, to cheer him on. His name is Johnathan On aka Ah Boy. He looked really tired and weak but much better than I expected cause I was literally shivering, wrapped in blanket with no fan or air conditioning, back when I had dengue in August 2007. Thank God he was admitted fast.
Had dinner with rest the gang after the visit, at the famous Steven's Corner where I finally had my rendang after coming back to Malaysia for so long. Next up on my list is banana leaf rice! LOL. I wanted to go to the gym once I reached home.. but I was so tired that I slept just lying on the sofa. Double mistake (never sleep after eating)!!!
Anyway, that's all for today... gonna meet an old friend, Lionel Tan for lunch and movie and go on a jogging date with Sharon Angela Liew tomorrow (Tuesday).
p.s. Glad to have received your email this morning saying you've safely reached Shanghai. =)

First Day (Sunday)
I gave it some thought and now know what I would posting here for the next few weeks. I am pretty sure that Richard's gonna be asking me 2 things:
1)How have I been these few weeks.
2)What have I been doing.
So instead of me trying to recall every single detail when he's back in Auckland, I shall write about what I will be doing for the next few weeks and some of the thoughts I have and make him read all these super long posts... HAHA.
So here goes, today was the first time in a long long time I helped in the worship team in my JB church (Church of Praise). I left the church back in 2006 to further my studies in KL then headed to Melbourne. That's how long I've not served in my JB church. It reminded me of how much of a ministry junky I was back in high school... LOL
Honestly, I do miss those days. I use to serve in:
~youth ministry on Friday nights,
~prayer meetings on Saturday mornings,
~children's ministry in the afternoon,
~cleaning up the church (sweeping, mopping, and washing of toilets) in the evening,
~did translation for the bilingual service at night,
~back up singing on Sunday mornings
~Creative Arts Ministry practice in the afternoon
My high school years were some of the most exciting years for me. Not only ministry wise but also in school. Meet some really good friends and bad ones too. There were a lot of times I wish I was able to serve in church as I did in the past. But thus far, that has not been the case. Mainly due to me shifting a lot and the different needs of the church.
Met up with an old friend, Chin Sing, who is an aeronautical engineer. I still remember him telling me how much he wanted to go to Japan and live there permanently, back in 2007. Three year later, 2010, he told me he has already been to Japan 3 times!!! But he also found out that Japan was not the place for him to live long term. I asked him why. He said his spiritual life would died in Japan. He also told me his next target is Europe which reminded me of Richard. How I wish I had all the time and financial resources in the world to go traveling all over the world. Anyway, am trying to save up as much as I can.
Went for a 30 mins walk (finally, gonna start building up my stamina.. so i'm planning to increase the time and pace), had some really awesome light but fatty local food for dinner *haha*, the worship leader said I look like I lost weight... *hehe*
That's all for today I guess. You might be wondering why not post this on my own blog... Well, my blog is kinda random and casual. I try to keep it light and fun and once in a while drop in my testimonies and prayers, in hopes that my best friend (Wenshu) would keep reading and get to know Christianity a little better. I also realize that my blog readers generally do NOT like super long post as such... lazy people! LOL
Another 24 days till I turn 22 and till Richard gets back to find his blog flooded with my posts! HAHAHA...

He's Leaving
Richard is leaving Auckland for Shanghai in another 6 hours or so.
Will pray that he'll have a safe trip throughout and that he'll have a blast with his friend there.
This blog is gonna be so dead for the next 3 and a half weeks. LOL
The owner did say he's counting on me to keep it alive though... i think...
If my memory serves me well, that's what he said.
Hmm...Anyway, I'll see what I can post here while he's happily enjoying himself. *hehe*
To the very few faithful readers of Richard's Think Tank,
Have a very blessed week ahead!!!

Birthday
So its now 1.30am in the morning and everyone has gone home.. Just writing a bit of what has happened today.
Firstly, last night at 12am I received a very nice post card from Shannon. Very cute hahaha..n I like it . Really made my day :) It's a shame you couldn't be here to celebrate it with me.

In the morning, I went to uni as usual with high hopes to finish up my trap ( which I didn't :( because there was just too much to do with such limited time). Anyway to show how grateful I was to my good friend techie who helped me so much, I took him out for a food competition in such that we can get to have the $20 meal for free if we finished it within 15 minutes. The meal was 5 times the average curry meal offered in the japanese restaurant.. Obviously we failed miserably.
In the evening, I had dinner with my sister and some friends. Just a simple meal because I thought there was just way too many birthdays these pass weeks. So a simple one could do.I thank God a wonderful family and friends.

Finally a fruitful day...
After so many days of unproductive days, I finally managed to get something done.Well, its not much but I guess its a start...
My friendly techie mate, Logan, just return from Whangarei! Got some help with my work and we're gonna start making the thing tomorrow. There's a lot of problems at the moment though but I guess it is at least going somewhere :D
The horrible thing was yesterday when I had to travel all the way east to attempt to fill up my bottle of compressed C02. To my dismay, the paintball place was closed! Maybe I'll try it on Friday when I have finished all my work. I'm pretty stuborn knowing that it is unlikely that I can fill the bottle up since it is stated on the bottle itself. Guess I have to hear it myself from the people working there to accept that it is totally not possible. After all, why give up when there's a slight chance of it working =p
Busy packing at the moment. Just had a crazy game of FIFA on Ren's PS3. Ren and my sister went for a date so I decided to have our (me and Alan) little date with our PS3...=D
Recently,I had so much prayers from friends and church members for my trip to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Really blessed for having such great friends. The whole worship team prayed for me during Sunday while Pastor Alfred prayed for me when I finally returned the GAA church's guitar for almost 2 weeks(I totally forgot).
Anyway, I'm gonna continue packing now. Getting EXCITED...

Challenged
Met up with one of my high school friends today... What started out as a casual talk about how we've been, turned out to be a talk on religion towards the end of the meet up.
She started sharing to me about her belief of how we were once all gods in the heavens. She explained that as we - the gods saw how terrible the world had become wanted to save the world hence incarnated into humans. As we came to this world.. some got lost. But the ultimate aim for us coming to earth was to help everyone to find their way to heaven. She also mentioned that all religion was the same and that all were to teach people to do good. But the thing is all religion had each a period of giving salvation. After that period it no longer gave salvation and it was just a teaching for people to do good. She said Jesus' period of salvation ended when He died on the cross (which i greatly disagreed and gave her a super long lecture on salvation in Christianity.. LOL.. as if i was a pro.. but am not).
It doesn't make sense to me cause if we were all gods incarnated to humans.. why would we have to save each other in the first place? Wouldn't have everyone been in heaven before coming to earth?
She also said the Jesus was 'hinting' us to look for our own way to heaven. She told me to sit down and really think about the verse that says we should carry our own cross... I could not really understand what she was trying to tell me.. so I asked which verse was she referring to. She said she wasn't sure but her teacher told her so. I told her my understanding of Jesus is that He is the ONLY way, the truth and the life and that there is no other way to heaven but through Him. So how can Jesus contradict Himself by hinting us in the Bible to look for our own way to heaven, assuming that she also believed the the Bible is true since she said Jesus was hinting.
I challenged her to really go find out what she was really believing in and told her to prepare herself and understand Christianity before coming to me.... I told her at the same time I would be making sure I know the Word very well too.
She then explained she was just trying to share what she thought was something really good and didn't mean to force. I told her I totally understand.
I do admire her bravery of sharing what she really believed in to others... I pray and hope would be able to be like her but I sure do need to equip myself. Am sure there's gonna be tougher questions coming along... you better buck up, Shannon!

Thank you for the present
Got a 3 in one (Christmas, new year, birthday) present today from a good friend. Made my day. Thank you very much. It's definitely a book that will help me with my walk with Him and also how to B A Man.

Another interesting happened today. I was walking all the way down Victoria street to Modern Plastic limited to get some polycarbon and acrylic materials for my case design. As I was walking, I saw this blind man desperately trying to wave down a bus when there was in fact there was no bus! so I was wondering "err....is this guy alright?" until I realised he was holding onto something which resembled a blind man's stick. So I went up to him and asked if he needed help. He said he was fine and so I continued walking to my destination. Who knew it was closed ! so a little annoyed after walking for so long I turned and started walking to my bus stop.
On the same way back I saw the same dude waving his arm to signal the "invisible" bus. I went up to him and asked if he mind if I helped him wave the right bus down when it comes. This time, I realised his eyes were wide open and seemed to focus somewhere else, somewhat of a blind man. He said he was fine again and I shouldn't trouble myself. So I LIED saying that I am waiting for a bus too! lol. so we had little chat and I found out that he knows so many of my Malaysian christian friends. He told me how kind they all are (People like like Daniel yang and Keith Tan). But sadly he told me he is not a religious man. We continued chatting and I found out how incredibly intelligent he was. He has a degree in law and business and currently studying some advance paper(can't remember what was it called). Anyway the bus came after 15 minutes and he got on it. Before he left he gave me this card which touched my heart.

What would be cool was if God could just use me to just heal Kiran blindness on the side of road where people were walking. People on the side of the road would be amazed by the wonders of God and start to seek the God of wonders! But even though so I think I might have been afraid to do so if I felt Got speaking to me. Not that I don't have the guts, (I think I have a lot of guts!) but more that I'm afraid that God did not heal the man! that would be such an embarrassment to His name. I know it all comes down to really hearing Him and having such faith that sometimes I struggle to have. But this is another one of those incident that shows me how important it is to be able to hear His voice so clearly without a doubt. So help me Father, to be so in tune and sensitive to your voice and direction.
Lastly, got a haircut today and also my first perm in my whole life! Can't believe it. When I was sitting on the chair, I was thinking, "I can't believe I'm starting to be so vain".hahahaha. Worst thing was that Alan had a shock when he first saw me. He thought that I was HIS MUM when I opened the door for him!
Thanks Alan .............. you definitely need glasses now!
The hair stylist told me to take a picture when I told him I'll never do this again! lol.. so here is the picture just for laughs....

Psonnets of Friendship- She Lives Across the Sea
Found this poem while google-ing the word distance. Thought it is a really sweet one. If i'm not wrong, this guy was referring a his friend who was a missionary somewhere. Just thought of sharing it here. =)
I have a friend who lives across the sea.
Despite the distance to her land,
I wish I could reach out and take her hand,
to pray with her and comfort her,
to be a friend,
to stand beside her and with her,
being free to love her as a friend.
She understands.
She lives in her land while here I stand
praying for her as she prays for me.
I stand beneath the sun,
and her, the stars,
Where else could she be?
In my heart, that's where.
For though I'm not with her,
far away from her,
the Lord will find her there.
He knows no boundaries,
He knows she's upon my heart,
because He hears my prayer.

P.S. I edited the original post cause it didn't sound good (to me)... LOL...the edited one might not be much better but at least to me it doesn't sound that weird anymore. *smiles*

Back to work
After 2 weeks of bumming around I think I should really get back to work even though I don't know what should I be doing...Thanks to those futurelec ppl who did not inform me that they didn't have the stocks. They just sent it yesterday and hopefully it'll reach by end of this week or early next week. I need my relays !
Today I went to university hoping that my good techie friend would help me with some designs and where I should get it manufactured. But unfortunately he was not there and will not be around until early next week. Bah! Guess I'll have to fully depend on myself now. Anyway did my gripper today in the manufacturing lab and below are some of the CAD pictures.

Confidence in Prayer
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
1 John 5:14 &15
All things shall work out for the glory of our God. Be it in our individual career paths or relationships with others... Don't worry nor be afraid. Enjoy this journey which you only get to travel on once.
Hungry
These pass few days, I have been constantly thinking of God so frequently and just really want a personal encounter with Him so badly. The hunger for Him was just somehow stronger today. I just so want to see His face...
Worship on stage today was awesome! but I was telling Ren today wouldn't it be awesome if we could just feel God's glory in church without any music at all ? People on the street walking nearby could feel his strong presence and would be attracted to it? On just setting foot into church, the presence of God is so strong that non believers would know straight away that it is definitely God and repent, weep before Him and accept Him into their lives? But I believe that it all comes to the hunger of His people that God will be willing to do that...So I pray for this hunger inside all of us would grow more and more...
I'm hungry for you..

A thought
Would it be a wiser thing to do to have an older someone monitore this blog?
Am glad Richard invited me to be a contributor.
Am honored to be able to be apart of this "rubbish dump".. LOL
I know it's a place where we both post really random stuff... It's a place where Richard dumps his thoughts, feelings and emotions....
I just have this nudging feeling that it would be great to have Richard's mentor or mum or someone he trust to watch over this place... =)

Blogging
Strangely, this morning when I woke up I was thinking of what Shannon asked if what I was truthful in what I have been writing here...Don't know why but I think that's still a weird question. All I have written here is just what I am/was thinking, what I have been doing. What's the point of lying and writing stuff that wasn't me? Lol..
And this blog thing, I think its pretty cool. Just leaving down things that you've been through and all, and even sharing testimony for God's glory and words of encouragements to your readers.
I have been encouraged by what I have read in people's blogs.(btw I don't normally read a lot of blogs). What they were once, and what they have been through and going through right now. It's pretty cool! just getting to know people through their past.
But maybe just for me, even though knowing that all of these posts were in the past, I found it hard to continue reading some of the remaining posts. Maybe its because some of the things I read gave me that "weird" feeling I used to have. Can't blame anyone for that because its just me and I understand blogging is all about the past. But even on facebook when I try to discover some1 and learn more about the person I found myself thinking "why don't u just take down that i-was-so-intimate-with-him picture esp when you guys are not even together anymore. This is different from blogging!".
Again, these are just some stuff on my mind that I have to dump into Richard's Rubbish Dump. Forgive me if what I'm writing now is wrong. Maybe my tummy needs a bit of food for lunch..Still waiting for sister to bring back my chaw kuey tiao.

Thinking about 2009
After the my high school friends and church friends had left ( with the exception of felix, alan , & Sam) I lied quietly on my bed thinking of the highlights of 2009.Some of them I could think of at this point were:
-Working alone all by myself in Petaling Jaya for the summer in Malaysia to gain some work experience with Mr. Woo. One of the loneliest periods of my time. Watched all the movies in the cinemas and read so many books in the "popular" bookstore. Even had to celebrate my birthday all alone!
-Finished my final year in University in Mechatronics Engineering. Definitely one of my big milestones!
-Completed my final year project which I suffered so much with my partner , Douglas Hing. Got to know him so much better through this project. Now that I look back at it I laugh at the pain that we had to go through, yet still succeeding with such good results and obtaining a patent for this project. It was thanks to God + friends and family's prayer that we succeeded.
-Getting mugged and losing my final year project equipment and SLR camera. But my supervisor bought another one of us and got a NEW better camera because we had insurance .One of the incidents that I don't think I'll forget for the rest of my life. (Unless I lose my memory lol)
-Learning so much from the keyboard players in harbourside church and improving my techniques to serve in church.
-Going to Keri Keri to serve in a conference for 5 days in the worship team. That trip itself taught me so much and I thank the team and God for such a privilege.
-Meeting a new interesting friend :)
In terms of spiritual life, I think I have grown a lot. I really thank friends and people in my life who have helped me grown so much. Especially my mentor pastor Alfred, good buddies like Alan, Ben , Felix, and others. I definitely want to thank God for such a wonderful year that He has given me. And because of such an awesome year, I believe that next year will be another one of those awesome year. Can't wait!! Bring on 2010 !
